The Beaches of San Diego

Because of its size and diversity, the best parts of beautiful San Diego can only be witnessed by foot, bike or by water. To explore the long white beaches, the quiet up scale towns and villages along the coastline, the rolling hills and majestic mountains to the east and toward our neighbor Mexico, to the south, we strongly recommend many of the 'hands on' and 'professionally operated' walking, surfing, biking and kayaking tours available. An example of these fine tours are the biking, kayaking tours at La Jolla Shores. Snorkel and diving tours and rentals are also available. La Jolla Shores is one of the most beautiful beaches in San Diego, and in Southern California. It is approximately one mile long and located in the heart of sophisticated and upscale La Jolla. The surf at La Jolla Shores is gentle compared to the surf both north and south of the town making its ideal coastal waters perfect for further exploring by kayak or surfboard. Enjoy snorkeling with harmless leopard sharks by booking a combo tour. The seasonal leopard sharks are harmless and swim around in shallow waters on the south end of La Jolla Shores. Snorkel above these amazing creatures on a kayaking tour combined with snorkeling. This tour involves kayaking to the caves and kelp beds and snorkeling with the leopard sharks, the Garibaldi, Guitarfish and other local marinelife. The La Jolla Sea Caves are a historical landmark, that attracts local kayakers, swimmers, and snorkelers. The series of sea caves are perched within a 75-million-year-old sandstone sea cliff. The La Jolla Sea Caves are only accessible by kayak, with the exception of Sunny Jim's Cave, that is accessible by land, via the Cave Store. The Cave Store is located on Coast Blvd. In 1902, a tunnel and stairwell, with 144 steps, was carved out leading into Sunny Jim's Cave, with access from The Cave Store. Other upscale shops, cafes and galleries are just steps away from The Cave Store. These stores are all located on the main access route to the world famous La Jolla Cove and located just minutes away from the best snorkeling, surfing, kayaking, and beaches in San Diego and on the beautiful coastline of Southern California. Located 7 miles south of La Jolla is the beach town that never sleeps; Pacific Beach. Pacific Beach is about 3 miles long and becomes Mission Beach and then South Mission Beach, and eventually ends at the channel entrance to Mission Bay. Pacific Beach is a very young beach town, home to many local students and young professionals. Pacific Beach is known well for its beach bar scene, a popular spot for nightlife any night of the week. Garnet Avenue is the main drag in Pacific Beach and boasts of its unique shops, restaurants and, of course, its many bars. Pacific Beach borders La Jolla at its northern most point and is home of the famous Tourmaline Beach', a popular surf spot. Kick back, take your time and relax and explore all of the beach towns and villages, and the other wonderful sights and experience your visit by touring the area by kayak, or bike to optimize your visiting experience to San Diego.
